Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
When you enter a name or a date of birth into a search box on this site, the entry goes to the outside provider that runs that search. The provider processes the query and returns the results. We do not log or store the search terms on our end.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If you email us, we keep the message so we can write back. Messages stay inside our team, and we do not share them outside our organization unless the law requires it.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers pick up technical details each time a page loads:
- The IP address your device is using
- Your browser name and version
- Your operating system and device type
- The pages you opened and how long you stayed
- The site that referred you, when there is one
- A timestamp for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
We use cookies, which are small files your device stores. They show us which pages draw traffic and where readers stop reading. Analytics services help us total that traffic. You can block cookies in your browser settings at any time, though some parts of the site may behave differently if you do.
What We Do With This Data
Information gathered through the site is used in a few limited ways.
- Keep the site online and loading quickly
- Route your search request to the right partner service
- Learn which pages readers find useful and which need work
- Find and fix technical problems
- Show advertising that may match your interests
No Warrant Data on File
This site does not host, build, or sell a database of warrants or personal warrant information. We publish general guidance about where Clay County warrant records are held and how to check them through the district court, the sheriff's Warrant and Transport Unit, and the city police departments. Minnesota has no public statewide warrant search, and we do not operate one. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and nothing we collect about visitors is turned into consumer reports or files about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
The search boxes on this site belong to outside companies. Anything you type into one is handled under that company's privacy policy, not this one. Those partners set their own retention and sharing practices, and we do not control them. Read the partner's policy before you submit a search.
Links to Other Websites
We link to court pages, sheriff's office pages, city police pages, legal aid groups, and outside search tools. Following one of those links takes you off this site, and the destination's privacy policy then governs your visit. Read it before you share personal details.
Some advertising partners track activity across sites to target ads. That tracking runs on their systems rather than ours.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Some information may reach:
- Search partners that handle the queries you run here
- Analytics services that measure traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place advertising on our pages
- Law enforcement or a government body when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect Your Data
We use standard security practices to protect what we collect. No internet service can promise perfect safety, and we cannot guarantee that a breach will never happen. We take reasonable steps and review them as the site changes.
Users Under 18
This site is built for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has sent us data, contact us and we will remove it promptly.
Your Data Rights
Minnesota law governs how government agencies handle data about you, and the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act (Minn. Stat. Chapter 13) sets those rules. This site is private, so that act does not apply to us, but we still offer the basics below. You can ask us to:
- Send you a copy of what we hold about you
- Correct information that is wrong
- Delete your data
- Stop certain kinds of processing
If your question is about a government record instead, the rights in the Data Practices Act apply, and the county's data practices page explains how to make that request.
Updates to This Policy
We may revise this policy later. When we do, the new version goes up on this page with a fresh effective date. Check back if you want to follow how we handle visitor information.
Effective date: September 15, 2026
